Quartz Countertops
If you have questions about granite or quartz for your El Paso remodel project, you are in good company. Quartz has emerged as one of our most popular requests among El Paso homeowners, and with good reason. Granite countertops are formed naturally from granite, while Quartz countertops are manufactured from 90-95% ground quartz crystals held together by polymer resins to mimic the natural elegance of granite in a less maintenance-prone manner. For anyone searching for a natural-look stone surface that does not need regular polishing or sealing, Quartz is an ideal material option our countertop contractors install throughout the El Paso area weekly.
One of quartz' most popular selling points, in our eyes, is that it does not ever need sealing! This contrasts to natural stone materials, such as granite, which needs to be sealed once every year or so. Marble is not much better as well since the stones surface is easily etched and stained by liquids, such as wine and citrus. El Paso city water is hard due to the high mineral content, making Marble in El Paso even more susceptible to staining and the hard water etching over time. Quartz is more resistant to this mineral etching because of it's non-porous surfaces, which allow minerals and liquids to be wiped and not soak into the surface. This means that with Quartz, you can confidently wash hard water spots off with no worries of leaving stains, or wiping up citrus juice, or red wine spills that leave a permanent mark.
The heat in El Paso can also cause countertop surfaces to react differently throughout the day. A lot of people do not realize that their kitchen has different sun exposure and heat throughout the day as they walk into the room. For example, a kitchen that has windows pointing to the south and west could see significant temperature variations depending on when they walk in. Some afternoons the surface will heat up quite a bit in direct sunlight and as the sun sets, the stone cools. Quartz is resistant to this heat cycle. Of course, you would still need to use a trivet for cookware removed directly from a hot stove, but because it experiences gradual heat changes when it is exposed to sun, quartz will never crack, warp, or fade like inferior materials can. We have seen a high increase in demand for engineered stone in developing areas like Horizon City and Socorro in part due to the influx of new homeowners and young families seeking to purchase new construction homes. Countertop builders offer quartz for these homeowners as a standard or upgrade feature that helps to attract homeowners wanting a higher-end appearance but not having the maintenance of stone. Regardless of whether you are choosing materials for a new home or upgrading an existing one in the region, the options are nearly unlimited: you can choose from hundreds of unique colors, patterns, and textures ranging from quartz that looks nearly identical to authentic Carrara marble quartz that looks like solid contemporary color for a modern southwestern look. Quartz countertops also look good in bathrooms, laundry rooms, and outdoor bars in the covered areas around pools. Quartz is a naturally moisture resistant, stain resistant, and bacteria resistant material making it a very hygienic surface for use in bathroom vanities where makeup, toothpaste, and other items regularly come into contact with the material. For busy family members living in El Paso, quartz is an ideal material simply because it is extremely easy to clean on a daily basis with just soap and water.

Bathroom Countertops
Bathrooms remodels are one of the most important home improvement projects you can do and the countertops are usually a big factor. If you live in a house with old tile in your El Paso bathrooms, you should know that grout has been used to bond your tiles together for decades but this old method does leave grout lines on your countertop. These grout lines discolor over time and look dated. If you live in one of our older homes in El Paso with original countertops from the 70s or 80s then replacing these countertops will make a huge difference in how your bathroom looks overall.
Unlike most kitchen countertop projects, bathroom countertop projects are typically smaller in size but require just as much attention to detail. This is especially true if you have an El Paso bathroom with an undermount sink, countertop to backsplash connection, and other small details. This type of project is especially common in Central El Paso homes. Among the queries we receive most often, there's one that tops the list: "What countertop is the best to install in a bathroom?" While the ideal choice really comes down to what you value most, both quartz and granite make excellent bathroom countertops. Quartz is nonporous, preventing the material from absorbing moisture from the shower and sink, which minimizes the risks of mold and bacteria as well as staining from your toiletries or bathroom cleaners. Although it's naturally porous, granite also makes an exceptional bathroom countertop as long as it is properly sealed. This natural stone can handle the humidity of a bathroom and is extremely durable. Marble is also a great choice if you want your master bath to have a spa-like feel, but you should be aware that it does require more care and attention. This is especially true here in El Paso, because our hard water can leave mineral buildup on marble and etch it when you don't wipe it down after each use.
Some homeowners in El Paso like to coordinate their bathroom countertops with their shower wall panels, bathtub surrounds, and bathroom flooring to create a beautiful, high-end feel to the entire room. For example, if you select a quartz top with white or gray veining, you can order shower wall panels made of the same material to the countertop and walls work together visually. This kind of coordinating look works very well in master bathrooms, where your vanity top, shower wall panels, and soaking tub are all on the same visual plane and you benefit from keeping a consistent material theme throughout the room. Although bathrooms are usually much smaller than your kitchen, you may be surprised at how large of an improvement stone countertops and surfaces can make, especially in the central El Paso area. Most smaller bathrooms, such as those in neighborhoods in Kern Place, Manhattan Heights, and Sunset Heights, can be made more attractive and inviting with a stone vanity countertop. Even with a single sink, a granite or quartz vanity countertop is a significant improvement over the old tile countertop and backsplash, and you won't have to renovate your entire bathroom to achieve a dramatic, beautiful improvement.
You can have your contractor address important issues such as the choice of edge profile for the countertop, the type of sink you want cut out of the counter, and what you'd like done with the faucet holes. A master bath vanity benefits from being upgraded with a beveled or ogee edge, while a guest bathroom can be made more stylish with a countertop that has an eased edge. The contractor will also template the bathroom countertop to make sure it fits well, even if the wall is out of square or the corners aren't 90-degree angles. These are typical situations in older El Paso homes that were built many years ago, when construction techniques and building codes were different from how they are today.

(915) 345-3774Marble Countertops
We import our marble countertop slabs directly from Brazil to bring El Paso a countertop material that truly stands the test of time. Our Gateway Blvd E showroom features a changing selection of marble stone slabs, allowing you to view them personally prior to choosing your material. Marble countertops are more delicate and need to be cared for more than quartz or granite countertops (especially with El Paso's hard water) yet there is no other stone surface that looks as good for homeowners wanting that classic look in a master bath room or formal kitchen. Call (915) 345-3774 to see what marble stone slabs are available for you.
Quartzite Countertops
Quartzite is one of the harder stone materials we fabricate countertops from. It is a common mistake to assume it is the same thing as quartz countertops, but they are two very different things. Quartzite is a natural metamorphic rock as opposed to a man-made engineered surface, providing a depth and dimension that quartz just can't replicate. We carry quartzite slab directly from Brazil in our Gateway Blvd E El Paso showroom, and our countertop team can walk you through how quartzite compares to granite countertop and marble countertops for your particular project. Call us at (915) 345-3774 to find out what quartzite stone slabs we have available.
Bathroom Vanity Tops
We fabricate bathroom vanity countertop tops made of granite, quartzite, and marble stone materials in our own local El Paso shop in our fabricating facility on Gateway Blvd E. Whether you need a single-sink vanity top for an Upper Valley guest bath room, or a double vanity top for a master bathroom on El Paso's East side, we do all the templating, fabrication, and installation ourselves. COMAF is a family owned and operated shop since 1985, and vanity top fabrication is one of our most popular projects. Call us at (915) 345-3774 to receive a bathroom vanity top quote.
Shower Walls
Stone shower walls are one of the most spectacular ways to revamp an El Paso bathroom. Our team of fabricators fabricate and install shower stone walls for many of our customers from throughout El Paso. All of our stone wall material is imported from Brazil then fabricated in our local El Paso shop. Visit our showroom on Gateway Blvd E to look at our stone wall samples, or call (915) 345-3774 to schedule a shower wall design consultation.
